# pvcreate
> Initialize a disk or partition for use as a physical volume.

- Initialize the `/dev/sda1` volume for use by LVM:
`pvcreate {{/dev/sda1}}`
- Force the creation without any confirmation prompts:
`pvcreate --force {{/dev/sda1}}`
