# rustup update

> Update Rust toolchains and `rustup` itself (if not installed using a package manager).

- Update all installed toolchains and `rustup`:

`rustup update`

- Install or update a specific toolchain (see `rustup help toolchain` for more information):

`rustup update {{toolchain}}`
